Extrusion Press Container

Containers are the most expensive tools in extrusion. The design, material and manufacture of the containers are therefore of special importance. The high stresses occurring in the containers are mainly

• Deformation loads
• Thermal stresses and wear.

TRAMAK takes all of these factors fully into account. We meet the high demands on “critical tools” with our special expertise. In addition to material selection, the container design is of special importance.

This is where the specialised knowledge of TRAMAK comes into its own, because design is part of our daily business. This applies similarly to complex temperature control as required for modern zone-heated and cooled containers. TRAMAK MACHINE‘s technology, product and system expertise in terms of continuous improvement is obvious. The following table shows the materials used for individual container components.

Extrusion Press Stem

The Extrusion Stem must withstand the total deformation resistance of the material being extruded. The occurring extrusion loads result in very high compressive and partly bending stresses in the stem.

Although the pressure pads prevent the stem from having direct contact with the hot billet, the stem head can be exposed to excessive temperature by the heat radiated from the liner and transferred via the pressure pad. In addition to high stresses, these conditions define the demands on special steels.

Dummy Block

The pressure pads transfer the force applied by the extrusion stem to the billet. For this reason, they are always in contact with the billet throughout the extrusion process. They are subject to high temperatures and reach high local temperatures in the process.

The pressure pads must be cooled to normal temperature following extrusion. These tool components are subject to very high loads due to the high temperature fluctuations. High thermal stresses also occur on the edges when extruding with a shell.

Similar to the extrusion dies, distinction must be made between the extrusion of aluminium and heavy metals for the pressure pads.

Clean-Out Block

The Clean-out Block is designed by TRAMAK to provide maximum cleanliness on the core inner surface.

The Clean-out Block flake should have a structure long enough to fit the loader and move freely along the core. The Clean-out Block flake is designed and produced in two ways to be used hot at room temperature.

The Clean-out Block flake must be calculated separately for each sleeve and clean the maximum aluminum film layer without damaging the core wall.

Butt Shear Blade

The design of TRAMAK Butt Shear Blade Knife differs according to size and alloy of presses. The cutting geometry of the traveling Butt Shear Blade is designed according to the needs of the customers.

TRAMAK Butt Shear Blade have long and precise cutting angle. In this way, it performs a smooth cutting operation with less power. The Butt Shear Blade must be produced from special alloyed steels and must withstand the variable forces on the cutting line.

Other Tools

Containers are the most expensive tools in extrusion. The design, material and manufacture of the containers are therefore of special importance. The high stresses occurring in the containers are mainly

• Thermal stresses and wear.

Frequently Asked Question

We design and manufacture a wide range of high-precision tooling systems tailored to your specific manufacturing and assembly requirements. Our solutions include custom production jigs, fixtures, press tools, and specialized mold components. Whether you need standard modular tooling or a completely bespoke engineering solution based on your technical blueprints, our team can develop precise setups that optimize your production line's efficiency and repeatability.
To ensure maximum durability, wear resistance, and long-term operational stability, we utilize premium-grade tool steels, high-purity alloys, and advanced hardening treatments. All our tooling products are engineered using state-of-the-art CNC machining and EDM technologies to achieve exceptionally tight tolerances. Our manufacturing processes strictly comply with international industrial standards, ensuring high geometric accuracy and seamless integration into your existing machinery.
Precision is paramount in tooling systems. Every jig, fixture, or custom tool we produce undergoes a rigorous quality control protocol, including detailed coordinate measuring machine (CMM) inspections and geometric tolerance verifications. We simulate and test the tools under operational stress conditions to guarantee perfect alignment, minimal deflection, and reliable clamping before final dispatch. Comprehensive inspection reports and material certifications can be provided upon request.
